 About the Society

International Journal of Medicine and Health Development (formerly, Journal of College of Medicine) is the official publication of College of Medicine University of Nigeria, and was established in 1995. It is under the supervision of the Directorate for Research and Publications of the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria. The University of Nigeria was established in 1960 while the College of Medicine was established in 1982. The College currently consists of four faculties: The Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. Through excellence in education, research and clinical service, College of Medicine, University of Nigeria has achieved an ever-increasing national distinction as a health sciences college. It provides outstanding medical education through its faculties, staff, programs, affiliates and centers of excellence. It is affiliated with the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku-Ozalla Enugu, National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu, and National Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu with thousands of bed spaces to serve as places for clinical education, training and research for her undergraduate and post graduate students.   About the Journal

International Journal of Medicine and Health Development, a publication of College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, is a peer-reviewed Online four (4) Issues journal. It was established in 1995 and has consistently published high quality articles. It has progressed from publishing one issue per year at inception to four issues per year (every 3 months) currently. The journal's full text is available online at http://www.ijmhdev.com. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.

The journal is now included in African Journal Online (AJOL).

This is an open access journal, and articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

The journal will cover technical and clinical studies related to health, ethical and social issues in field of International Journal of Medicine and Health Development is a peer reviewed journal with the following purposes:1.To publish contributions in clinical and basic science research, in all field of medicine.2.To publish contributions in the prevention, care and treatment of diseases, and on the promotion of health in developed and developing countries. 3. We shall also accept articles on medical education, social medicine and other related medical subjects (Nursing, Medical laboratory Sciences, Medical Radiography and Rehabilitation, Clinical Pharmacy etc.).. Articles with clinical interest and implications will be given preference.
